100% Chardonnay

This wine is made from 100% Chardonnay, a grape variety that is particularly well suited to both fresh and oak-aged white wines. In this Essence version, Chardonnay shows its richer and more refined side. Ripe fruit is supported by soft acidity and subtle oak notes, giving the wine enough body for the table while retaining elegance.

From Judea, Israel

The grapes come from the Judean Foothills & Hills, the hilly wine-growing region of Judea in Israel. Abundant sunshine, changes in elevation and cooler nights help the grapes ripen fully while retaining freshness. This creates a fine balance between ripe fruit, acidity and structure.

Aged 8 months sur lie in French oak

After fermentation, Teperberg Essence Chardonnay is aged for around 8 months sur lie in French oak barrels. Sur lie means that the wine remains in contact with the fine lees during ageing. This adds extra roundness, texture and complexity. French oak contributes elegant wood notes without overpowering the fruit. The result is a rich yet refined Chardonnay with a balanced combination of fruit, oak and freshness.

Tasting profile

Teperberg Essence Chardonnay is rich, rounded and elegant. The aroma and flavour show notes of peach, apricot and lemon zest, complemented by nuances of almond, honey and subtle French oak. The acidity is soft yet fresh enough to keep the wine lively. Its medium body gives a generous impression without becoming heavy. The finish is long, rounded and refined.

Food pairing

This Chardonnay pairs very well with fish, poultry, creamy pasta dishes, risotto and grilled vegetables. It also works beautifully with salmon, white fish, roast chicken and dishes with a creamy sauce. Thanks to its combination of fruit, oak and soft acidity, it also pairs nicely with mild and semi-hard cheeses.

Serving and storage

Serve Teperberg Essence Chardonnay at around 10–12°C. Store the bottle in a cool, dark place with as stable a temperature as possible. Thanks to its structure and oak ageing, this wine has somewhat more ageing potential than a simple young Chardonnay.
