Teperberg Legacy Petit Verdot - Exclusive Red Wine from Israel
The Teperberg Legacy Petit Verdot is one of the most exclusive wines produced by Teperberg Winery. Legacy is the winery's premium range and is made from carefully selected grapes of exceptional quality. This powerful red wine is made entirely from Petit Verdot and comes beautifully presented in a luxurious gift box.
100% Petit Verdot
Petit Verdot is often used as part of red wine blends, but with this exceptional wine Teperberg demonstrates what the grape can achieve on its own. Careful vineyard management and low yields allow the grapes to develop an impressive concentration of colour, aroma and flavour. The result is an expressive, powerful wine with remarkable depth and structure.
Origin - Ayalon Valley and Judean Hills
The grapes come from two carefully selected vineyards. One is located in the Ayalon Valley on limestone-rich soil, where cooling air currents contribute to slow and balanced ripening. The second vineyard is situated in the Judean Hills and benefits from a favourable microclimate. The different characteristics of these two locations complement each other and contribute to the wine's complexity.
Vinification and 18 Months of Ageing
The Petit Verdot grapes are harvested during the cool night-time hours. After gentle crushing, the grapes undergo cold maceration before natural alcoholic fermentation begins. Following malolactic fermentation, the wine is aged for an impressive 18 months in new French oak barrels. After bottling, the wine is given approximately another six months to rest in Teperberg's cellars before release.
Tasting Profile
This Petit Verdot has a very deep, dark red to almost black colour. The nose reveals concentrated aromas of dark fruit and plum, complemented by floral nuances and notes of tobacco, coffee and elegant oak. Full-bodied and powerful, yet soft and harmonious, the wine combines a rich structure with concentrated flavours and a long-lasting finish.
Food Pairing
This powerful red wine deserves dishes with plenty of flavour and structure. Pair it with slow-cooked beef, lamb, game, rich stews or mature hard cheeses. Its full character also makes it an excellent choice for an elaborate dinner or special occasion.
Serving and Storage
Serve the Teperberg Legacy Petit Verdot at approximately 16-18 °C. Due to its powerful structure, the wine can benefit from being opened in advance or decanted before serving. It also has excellent ageing potential and can continue to develop beautifully with further bottle ageing.
Kosher and Non-Mevushal
The current bottle is kosher for Passover and non-mevushal. The wine contains sulphites. The alcohol content of the current bottle is 14.5%.
